Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
-
Are you currently accepting new patients?
Yes, I am currently accepting new patients for telehealth evaluations. You can view my real-time availability by clicking the 'Book Now' button.
What should I expect during the first visit?
Our first session is a 60-minute diagnostic evaluation. We will discuss your history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. By the end, we will have the foundation of a personalized care plan.
Do I need a referral from my primary doctor?
No, a formal referral is not required to schedule an appointment, though I am happy to collaborate with your primary care physician if you wish.
What should I do to prepare for my first virtual visit?
Find a private, quiet space where you feel comfortable speaking freely. Ensure your camera and mic are enabled and working properly. Many patients find it helpful to have a notebook handy and to use headphones to ensure the best audio quality and privacy.
Can I do my session from my car?
As long as you are parked safely and have privacy, yes! Many of my patients find their parked car is the quietest 'office' available to them during a busy day.
-
Which platform do we use for our sessions?
We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Unlike standard FaceTime or Skype, this platform is built to meet federal HIPAA standards, ensuring your sessions and medical records remain strictly confidential.
What equipment do I need for a session?
All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer that has a working camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. You’ll receive a simple link via email—no complicated software downloads required.
What if we lose the connection during a visit?
If a tech issue arises, I will immediately call you at the phone number on file. We can continue the session via audio or reschedule if the disruption is significant.
Can I attend my session from a public place?
To protect your privacy and ensure clinical focus, I require patients to be in a private, quiet space (like a home office or parked car) during our visits.
-
Can you prescribe medication through a video visit?
Yes. Following a comprehensive evaluation, I can send prescriptions electronically to any pharmacy of your choice.
Can you prescribe controlled substances via telehealth?
The prescription of controlled substances is subject to strict federal and state regulations. We will discuss your specific clinical needs and the current legal requirements during your evaluation.
Do I have to live in any specific area to see you?
Yes. Medical licensing laws require that a patient be physically located in the state where the doctor is licensed at the time of the visit. I am currently licensed to see patients in New York.
Do you offer therapy, or just medication?
My approach is integrative. While I specialize in medication management, I incorporate supportive therapy into every visit. If you require intensive weekly psychotherapy, I can provide referrals to trusted therapists to work alongside us.
Is telehealth right for everyone?
Telehealth is highly effective for most psychiatric conditions. However, if you are experiencing a severe crisis or require intensive, in-person monitoring, I will help refer you to a local facility that can provide the necessary level of care.

If you do not have insurance or are out-of-network, please contact our office for details.
If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse you in part.
I can provide an itemized receipt or Superbill for you to send to your insurance company. Please note that I cannot guarantee reimbursement by your insurance plan.
To verify your out-of-network benefits, call the number on your insurance card for mental health, substance abuse, or customer service. Once you get an agent on the phone, you may ask the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health and/or substance abuse services?
Do I need any prior authorization to have services covered? If so, how do I go about getting authorization?
Are there any deductible, out-of-pocket, co-insurance, and/or other amounts I am responsible for before benefits kick in? How much are these amounts?
After benefits kick in, what percentage is covered?
Where and how do I submit bills/claims in order to get reimbursed?
I also have self-pay options available. I may offer a sliding scale fee depending on financial circumstances and treatment needs. Please contact our office if you feel I may be of help to you.
